The Day Of The Geese, Lekeitio -Bilbao-

The Day of the Geese is normally held on September 5th, as a part of the Patronal Festival of Lekeitio, San Antolines. It is a competitive festival with a long tradition.

The port of Lekeitio is full of ‘chalupas‘ (small boats), which are awaiting their turn to sail under the goose (a random lottery, that determines the order in which the ‘chalupas’ sail, is held on the morning). Horse races at the beach of Sanlúcar de Barrameda -Cádiz-

Horse races have been held in San Lúcar de Barrameda since 1845.

The event is declared of International Tourist Interest.

It takes place in two stages over three days in August, the dates depend on the tides. Every day four races starting around 6:00 pm are held at this 1.800 metre long sandy beach.

International Descent of the Sella, Arriondas & Ribadesella -Asturias-

The Descent of the Sella is is the most international event which has taken place in Asturias.

Since 1930, when Dionisio De la Huerta joined some friends to make the trip down the river, a canoeing celebration has been held every year.  But it was not until 1936, when this recreational trip became a  competition, although a lot of participants join in just looking for fun and not for any prize.
