Cádiz Carnival, Andalucía

It was something pending on my list and I did not want to wait any longer. As the Carnival of Cádiz is one of the most famous in Spain, I had to go there and explore the entire city to experience all that was going on during Carnival.

Unlike most carnivals, focus on the showiness of the costumes, the imaginative attire is which people in Cádiz give more importance to.  However, the main attraction of this carnival is the criticism, parody, and sarcasm involving the city during these days.

Folkloric Descent of the Nalón, Pola de Laviana

The Folkloric Descent of the Nalón is a fun and festive sailing event that takes place along the Nalón river in the county of Laviana, in the region of Asturias. Original boats are built by the participants, who have to sail the boat along a river which has very little flow.

“Curro de Candaoso” Viveiro, Lugo

Curro de Candaoso” or ‘Rapa Das Bestas’ of San Andrés de Boimente takes place on the first Sunday in July.  During the early hours and after the traditional breakfast of garlic soup, the horsemen round up the semi-feral horses living on the mountain and lead them to the ‘curro’ (corral), where the spectacle begins around eleven am.
