Ponies also have their day in the festivities of Caravaca de la Cruz. Although they were taking part in the Wine Horses celebrations since the 1970s, it was not until the year 2005 that they got their own parade. Maritime Procession of Virgen del Rosario, Luarca -Asturias-

At last a maritime procession! The 15th August is the date on which many festivals are held in Spain, so that it is difficult to choose one from all of them. It is the setting of a beautiful fishing village and the Cantabrian Coast, together with this kind of procession, that has made me choose this one.

‘La Virgen Blanca’, Vitoria

This festival began as an event to honour the “Virgen Blanca” (White Virgin) and has been celebrated since at least the end of the 18th century.  The main figure, the “Celedón“, is the symbol of this “fiesta“, represents a peasant of that time, Celedonio, who was always surrounded by a lot of invited friends.
